Located in a mainly residential neighborhood, Sodre272 has a particular location in the urban net: a fake corner created by the canalization of the Areia stream. With that in mind, all the apartments were oriented to this street facade, the north. This way, those who live in the building can look to the street to generate more safety, and also have an efficient solar incidence in the warmer months. For the months when the sun has a lower angle, it was created sliding panels to filter the light and to bring texture to the facade.
The east and west façades have big concrete boxes which create independent volumes and embrace the building until the south facade. These boxes bring strength to the building and they become a part of the interior furniture as big benches. The vertical circulation was made in a concrete volume connecting in material to the facades.
On the roof, there is a barbecue area, gardens, and wooden benches thought of as space for the integration of the residents.
